My stay in Fiji was a “serendipity”. The two reasons why I decided to go to Fiji was to play rugby, and to study English seriously. I had no information on rugby teams until I came here, but there were so many people playing rugby everywhere I go. Fiji is the home ground of rugby! I appealed myself to join one of the teams, and at the end, I was able to play on one of them. Fijians were very friendly and thanks to them, I was able to have some unforgettable moments. Fijians are known for their friendliness and they proved me to be so. My teammates were also my English teachers, and they were very helpful although I was just a beginner. After coming back, I am missing Fiji as though if it was my home country. I will study English in Japan for a while, and I will definitely go to Fiji once again! Fiji has become me second home.

To go to Fiji was THE best choice I have ever made. Time flows slowly in Fiji, and it is up to you, what you make out of it. I had two goals for my stay in Fiji. One was to enjoy Body boards and the other was to visit many places and make friends. I went to the beach from 4 in the morning when there were waves, then I went to school. I participated in an internship at a resort hotel, therefore I had the chance to make a lot of local friends. I worked during the day, went surfing with the guests at the hotel in the afternoon….Although, the staff dormitory at the hotel was very wasted, I had the most meaningful internship. No matter where I go, or where I live in the future, I will always look back at my stay in Fiji for mental pabulum. To the students who are thinking about going to Fiji, please use your limited time useful!

I went to Fiji for 2 weeks! Going to an island to study English at a cheap price…everything sounded so scary at first. My host family was an Indo-Fijian family. My host mother was a very talkative lady, and she treated me as though I was one of her daughters. I was able to talk to her about my family in Japan, school, and everything! She was very patient with my poor English and she taught me how important it was to be a strong independent woman. Fiji is still one of the developing countries, but Fijians were very warm, friendly, and living each day to their fullest. The way they lived seemed like the way everybody should live life, and the time I spent amongst them will be never be forgotten.
